We’ve recently been working just outside our backdoor! There is perhaps nothing more rewarding than working for repeat Clients, and that satisfaction is multiplied when the Clients are right in our home town. In this case, we’re talking about Making Waves Hair Salon, at 585 Water Street in Prairie du Sac. This remodel renovation project was additionally and particularly special for us because it entailed work on a truly historical site. Just steps away is the Sauk Prairie Historical Society, which provided two important photographs of the

building, one from 1906-12 and the second from 1960-65, when 585 was home to the Red Arrow Cafe. Our friends at Making Waves knew it was time for a needed remodel renovation to this grand space. Meanwhile, of utmost importance were underlying goals to respect and retain the building’s historical character. Of course with any restoration project, there is always one guarantee: a hidden surprise (or two or three…). You never really know what you’ll encounter! And true to form, as we started our work we found a main header beam was in disrepair, meaning it needed to be replaced entirely. Once we jumped over that hurdle, we quickly went on to finish the project, complete with new windows, bricks, lighting and a new sign. The end result? It’s beautiful! And it’s so much fun to look at the various photos, to compare post-facelift images to the historical photos... We just know this one will go down in the history of Prairie du Sac as a job done well and done right.
