kitchen remodel, portage | pat + carolyn watson

We did some gutter work for Pat & Carolyn Watson in the spring of 2009, so when Carolyn started dreaming about a fabulous new kitchen, we were the first ones they called!

The Watson’s already have a gorgeous house, but it was time for an update in the kitchen, as well as some other areas. Much of the house already had hard wood floors, but the kitchen had linoleum, so one of the first items on the “update list” was to install new wood in the kitchen and then sand and re-finish the remaining wood on the first floor to match.

As far as the kitchen itself, the existing cabinets were in very good condition, so Carolyn elected to keep the ones on the perimeter intact, with a couple of additions –a new desk section, some new upper cabinets with glass doors and a darker crown molding. We did take out the existing island however, and replaced it with a new, more visually appealing and functional version. A new bar section was also added. All of this was topped off with brand new appliances, granite countertops, tile backsplash and stone work. Oh, and how could we forget, all sorts of new lighting!

The updates didn’t stop in the kitchen though, we painted and installed new trim throughout the first floor, as well as sanding and re-finishing their railings and entertainment center to match the floors!

Pat & Carolyn’s kitchen couldn’t have turned out any better – it’s absolutely beautiful! The Watson’s are very pleased with the work we did for them – especially all of the careful work and craftsmanship that Don & Steve put into this project.
