Triple Bathroom Remodel
This month’s Featured Client came to us through last year’s Madison Area Home Builders Association Home Products Show. Duane and Denise Nolden had heard of our company through a friend we did some work for. So when they saw our booth at the trade show they were eager to talk to us about a few bathroom remodel projects. Stacey, one of our Remodeling Consultants, met with them at their home to discuss their projects in depth.
Duane and Denise built their home several years ago and were ready for updates to the master bath, kids’ bath, and powder room. Denise has great style, and we brainstormed with her to put into reality her ideas for the new spaces. We worked within the existing layout, except in the master shower, where we removed a small “bump out” to boost the shower size to the full width of the room.
Many unique features were incorporated into all three spaces. New custom hickory cabinetry brought a slightly more contemporary look, while still blending in nicely with the beautiful existing oak throughout the rest of the home. Through the help of the amazing Houzz.com website, Denise found inspiration for a very stylish, yet functional, medicine cabinet for the powder room. The cabinet’s three shelves extend wall to wall and the mirror slides on a track, as you can see from the photos. There’s plenty of hidden storage, and plenty of style!
We updated the powder room with a custom made vanity that was inspired by the design of a prefabricated unit. Our cabinet makers were able to mimic the style and improve upon it to fit the space perfectly, all at a reduced cost. To complete the space, we added new lighting to complement a sleek quartz countertop, along with a rectangular under-mount sink and touchless sensor faucet.
In the kids’ bathroom we installed a deep soaking air jet tub with accessible tiled apron, and a unique vertical tile accent, the perfect focal point. The rest of the walls called for large tiles with a polished finish (goal: fewer grout lines and easier to clean). A recessed medicine cabinet and new vanity with internal trash now provide ample storage and help keep things tidy. Finally, because the bathroom has no windows, we installed a sun tube. It’s the perfect way to bring natural light into spaces in the very center of a home like this.
For the master bathroom remodel we updated the cabinetry and medicine cabinet, and added new faucets and lighting. The new, larger shower called for a custom bench, complete with a quartz top and a heavy glass enclosure underneath. Fixed and handheld shower fixtures ensure a luxurious shower experience and make cleaning the space a breeze, as do the large format tiles used for the shower walls and bathroom floor.
Vision + Design + Function + A little luxury = The formula for three renovated and revitalized bathrooms that suit the Nolden family perfectly!
In the end Duane and Denise were very happy with their new spaces and excited to show them off! Here’s what Denise had to say about working with Frey Construction:
“… working with Stacey and Nick made all the difference for us. They both were great to work with. Stacey’s attention to details and organization are stellar! She was very thoughtful and professional. I would feel extremely lucky if I have the opportunity to work with her again and would seek her out for any future remodel/construction jobs we pursue. I loved working with you ! Again, your attention to details and your organizational skills are the best! I can’t thank you enough for keeping track of probably hundreds of little details along the way for this project. You did an excellent job!”
