Best Kinds of Kitchen Countertops

Best Kinds of Kitchen Countertops

When it comes to deciding which kind of kitchen countertop is best, it really boils down to what is most important to you—are you looking for something that is really easy to clean? Or is staying within your budget a bigger concern? Are you open to different colors and textures, or do you absolutely need a bright red countertop to complete your all-red kitchen?

Laminate

Laminate countertops are a great choice because they are easy to clean and very affordable. They come in a wide range of colors, textures, and patterns, from those that mimic granite and marble to those that look like stainless steel. They are also very lightweight, easy to install, and should you need to, easy to replace.

Recycled Glass

In today’s increasingly eco-friendly world, recycled glass is becoming a more popular option for kitchen countertops. Composed of about 85 percent crushed recycled glass that is suspended in a polymer, these countertops and incredibly durable and offer a subtle, mosaic-like appearance. Many colors are available.

Wood

Wooden countertops often get a bad reputation because people think they require too much upkeep. In reality, wooden “butcher block” style countertops really only need to be refinished once every 10 to 20 years, which isn’t too bad. What’s more, for many homeowners, the low cost when compared to marble and granite countertops is well worth the occasional resurfacing.

Quartz

While granite countertops have been top dog for decades, nowadays, quartz is becoming more prevalent, especially in high-end kitchens. Quartz is every bit as durable as granite, is great at resisting stains from oil and wine, and because quartz countertops are manufactured instead of quarried, you’ll have more color options at your disposal.
