Past clients Paul and Kathleen Ganshert called Frey Construction after a hail storm came through and damaged the roof, siding, and windows of their home. Scott Frey worked closely with the Gansherts to help them negotiate a fair settlement with their insurance company. The compensation made it possible for Paul and Kathleen to replace a fair share of windows and all of the siding and roof.
The home was built using relatively low quality windows and siding which were showing signs of needing replacement even before the hailstorm. Instead of simply replacing the siding and windows with comparable materials, Paul and Kathleen decided to upgrade with superior materials. The big advantage to all of this is that they’ll never again have to worry about the materials wearing out.
The project began last fall, with a new roof system and an Owens Corning Lifetime shingle. And this spring we installed Craneboard insulated siding. But for the Ganshert project, the highlight is definitely the windows. The Frey team installed Artisan windows, our private line of windows. Custom built for each client, the Artisan line combines the beauty of a real wood interior with the strength of an infused vinyl exterior. Besides boosting energy efficiency, this technology allows wood and vinyl—which normally expand and contract at different rates with temperature changes—to expand and contract together. This “float” method needs no adhesives or fasteners, and there’s no potential moisture build-up behind the wood.
