One of the largest, most amazing projects in our 17 years of business has just been completed! As you’ve seen in previous newsletters, we’ve been tracking the upper level addition at the Walz house in Portage. Now, we are very proud to share the “after” pictures, as well as some additional information about the project!
Rob & Vicki Walz contacted us last year after being referred by some of our past clients. They had been tossing around the idea of adding on to their home for quite some time. They even had some plans drawn up prior to meeting us, but weren’t necessarily in love with the design or progress of the estimating process, so they were very excited to turn it all over to us!
We took the general idea of adding another level to Rob & Vicki’s home (including a new master suite, laundry/storage and exercise room) and re-arranged some areas from the original plan to account for structural necessities, to better accommodate plumbing and incorporate everything the homeowners dreamed of. This included a lot of product selection & details to work through, which meant a combined effort for our Interior Remodeling Consultant, Jenn Breunig and Exterior Salesperson, Mark Alexander. Months of planning went into the process before our construction crews ever set foot on the property, just to make sure every last detail was sorted out!
As you can see, the exterior of the home is just stunning. Even better, the products used are meant to last a lifetime! We installed seamless steel siding, GAF Ultra Lifetime shingles, our very own Absolute Gutter System, an insulated steel garage door and beautiful ledge stones that complement each other wonderfully!
Moving inside, the first new feature in the Walz home is the incredible 20’ tall entryway that extends up through the new levels of the house. As you head upstairs to the second level (where the master bedroom used to be) we combined the master bath and main into one, as this floor now just has 2 kid’s bedrooms and a guest bedroom. From there, you take a new set of stairs up to the third level of the house, which features a huge master bedroom with vaulted ceilings, walk-in closet and luxurious bathroom with a double vanity, separate toilet room, soaking tub with tile surround and custom tile walk in shower! Also on this level is a laundry room and large exercise room with ample storage. All of this is enhanced by carefully placed windows and in-floor heat throughout!
As a bonus, we were even able to take things up one more level! While not on the original plan, our clever guys came up with the idea of building a loft in an area that would have just been an attic over the bathroom where the ceiling wasn’t vaulted.
You may have seen from some of the previous pictures what an enormous undertaking this project was, considering one of the first things we did was dismantle their recently remodeled kitchen and take their roof off, so we could build up from there! Obviously, Rob and Vicki were VERY nervous about the whole construction process and seeing their wonderful home taken apart, but we’re so glad they chose Frey and we made it as “quick and painless” as possible for them. In the end, we know that they are absolutely thrilled with the work we did and we couldn’t be happier to have Rob and Vicki as a part of our remodeling family!
“Your company is awesome – you care about what we think about you. Never having built before – we did not have any idea of what we were in for – we should have known – but even through the bumps and bruises Frey was there to please – you tried and succeeded at every turn. Thank you!” ~Rob and Vicki Walz
