Basement Design and Remodel, Mazomanie, WI

Check out the basement remodel that Frey recently completed for Joseph & Susan Cline of Mazomanie. What started out as a simple laundry room facelift on the main level, evolved into a full transformation of an unfinished, under-utilized basement.

The existing laundry room although slightly more convenient being on the first floor, was located in a tight and congested area directly off of the garage. You could easily say this room was dual purposed. It served as an entry, a mudroom, laundry room and even a pantry.

Through some careful and strategic planning we were able to incorporate a fully functional laundry/mudroom with a warm and cozy family room.

We used specific materials for the project that are more eco- friendly and healthy to live with, such as No VOC Paints, Reduced Dust Drywall, Cellulose Insulation, Cork Underlayment and 100% Wool Carpeting. The cabinet designs were carefully thought out to incorporate storage for seasonal items, as well as cleaning supplies. We were able to conveniently hide the vacuum cleaner and broom as well as the laundry baskets in the tall deep cabinets to the left of the washer and dryer.

Special attention to detail was brought out in the mix of colors and materials that were used. Cool blues, grays and whites contrast nicely with the warm wood and leather tones found in the flooring and furniture. Also the contrast between the hard tile, warm woods, and soft carpet play with your senses. Even some behind the scenes details, such as Sound Isolation Clips combined with extra thick insulation were used under the drywall in the ceiling to prevent sound transmission from traveling between the floors.

In the end the Cline’s were very happy with their new space and eager to use it.
