| Kristine Lamont - Kitchen Remodel When Kristine Lamont wanted to do some remodeling work in her home, she called on to Frey Construction because we had previously worked with her mother on a project and she was pleased with our professionalism and kindness at that time. Like many of our clients, Kristine knew she wanted to update her bathroom and kitchen, but was very unsure of what exactly to do from there. Just update the current layouts? Knock down a wall and open the kitchen up to the rest of the house? Re-locate the bathroom entirely in order to make it bigger? We drew up several different designs and weighed out all the pros and cons of each with Kristine. The layout that best fit her needs was to open up the kitchen and expand it a little bit, while keeping her bathroom the same size & providing it with a much needed facelift. Next came product selection
– Kristine didn’t have a definite look in mind, but she
did want to incorporate environmentally friendly items wherever possible.
This gave us a definite direction for the biggest decision in her kitchen
remodel – the cabinets! We introduced her to Lyptus, which is
a wood made from a hybrid of two species of Eucalyptus tree. Developed
for quick harvesting, and grown on plantations in Brazil, Lyptus is
marketed as an environmentally friendly alternative to oak, cherry,
mahogany and other wood products that may be harvested from old growth
forests. Lyptus trees can be harvested for lumber in approximately 15
years, much sooner than woods from cooler climates. As a plantation
grown wood, use of Lyptus does not deplete old growth forests which
are regarded as valuable havens for biodiversity. Lyptus's fast growth
rate ensures that supply stays high, and keeps costs low. From there,
we directed Kristine the LG Eden Collection of solid surface countertops.
This innovative new product line from LG is made from 12% recycled content,
making it the only acrylic countertop that is easy on the environment.
