The Frey Construction Snake Rescue

At Frey Construction, we strive to go above and beyond for our Clients.  Sometimes, we can’t help ourselves and go WAY above and beyond.  And recently, four of our team members did just that.  Let’s call it, “The Great Snake Rescue of 2014.” Our Production Manager Jay Breunig, Siding Division Manager JJ Prine, and Window Division Manager Mark Frey, along with one of our Sales Consultants, Katie Cook were all at a Clients home in Middleton, WI doing a walk through for an upcoming siding, window and gutter project.  While walking around the home discussing the details of the project,…

Remodel Renovation on Water Street

We’ve recently been working just outside our backdoor! There is perhaps nothing more rewarding than working for repeat Clients, and that satisfaction is multiplied when the Clients are right in our home town. In this case, we’re talking about Making Waves Hair Salon, at 585 Water Street in Prairie du Sac. This remodel renovation project was additionally and particularly special for us because it entailed work on a truly historical site. Just steps away is the Sauk Prairie Historical Society, which provided two important photographs of the building, one from 1906-12 and the second from 1960-65, when 585 was home…

Smart Growth Isn’t Just for Urban Planners: Bring It inside Your Home!

All across the nation, urban and suburban planners are touting ways to control sprawl and make smarter use of limited space. Right here in Dane County, for example, in the city of Fitchburg, a new development called Uptown is employing all sorts of smart-growth tactics that allow growth without sprawl. Meet Max, Our Man of Steel

Roofing is a messy job, no two ways about it. Because of the amount of debris it creates, cleanup is half the battle. Shingle shrapnel makes for heavy loads. Far worse, nails can find their way into landscaping and grass. Hello, landmines. Hello, tetanus. Hello, lawn mower that spits out metal projectiles. We take cleanup very seriously—so seriously that we even hired a guy whose sole purpose is to catch roofing debris before it ever hits the ground. Meet Max: Max has actually been with us for quite some time now. Sometimes we joke that he’s our best employee, since…

Check Your Insurance before the Next Hailstone Hits!

Did the recent hailstorms in and around Dane county take you by surprise? Statistically, we were due for hail last month, when March was supposed to “come in like a lion.” Even if it had, your average Wisconsin March rarely “goes out like a lamb.” And our Aprils are no walk on the beach either. April is one of four peak months in our area for hail damage (the others being March, May, and June). And our portion of the state actually sees more frequent damaging hail than the rest of Wisconsin, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration…

Roof Repairs and Replacement on the Rise

Every year, we see an uptick in roofing calls right around the time the crocuses peek through the soil. In other words, now. This year, we expect even more calls than usual. In fact, that’s what the National Roofing Contractors Association and many economists are forecasting: Combine an unusually harsh, long winter with a (finally) improving economy, and you get a long waiting line for roof inspections, repairs, and replacement. Let’s talk about that winter. Freeze-and-thaw cycles are rough on a roof. Different materials expand and contract at different rates in response to temperature shifts. So, let’s say your complete…
