Pat and Tom Schwarz, Prairie du Sac, WI - Bathroom Remodel

When deciding which project to feature as our May 2008 Client of the Month, the choice was clear - it just had to be Tom and Pat Schwarz! We did so much work for them and it all turned out so great - we just have to share it with our remodeling family!

We remodeled Pat and Tom's master bathroom, added a bathroom to their lower level, re-roofed their house and also did some other odds and ends!

Prior to the remodel, the master bath had a large corner whirlpool tub that was hardly ever used. Instead, Pat wanted to get rid of that and replace it with a smaller soaking tub. Both Tom and Pat wanted a larger shower with multiple shower heads and body sprays.

In the beginning we played around with a few different layouts for the tub and shower, but in the end, decided to do a large glass enclosure around the entire shower (from Hellenbrand Glass), so as to maximize the light and openness in the room.

A lot of time and thought was put into selecting everything for the new bathroom, especially finding just the right tile for the floor, shower walls and tub surround. They ended up with a beautiful combination of different sizes of tile, as well as some small glass accent pieces.

Mike from Selwood Plumbing installed a variety of shower heads and Kohler water tiles and our tile guy, Joel Hacker had to take a lot of time installing the tile around them and throughout the bathroom.

We also installed a custom made a window for this project. The decorative glass that Pat really liked was only available in an entry door – which was no big deal for Scott! He just ordered the door, took out the glass and built a window frame around it!

While we were at the Schwarz home, we added a bathroom to their basement. We also ended up doing many other odds and ends - building a whole new mantle around their living room fireplace, some painting, tearing out a built-in bookcase, updated some lighting in the garage and backyard, as well as replacing their roof!

The task initially presented a lot of careful thought and planning - but we finally came up with the solution! After re-working some "dead space" to the left of the bathroom and to re-arrange the layout of the bathroom a bit, we were able to work in a shower!

We went to work tearing out the old bathroom and adding in the extra space for the new shower - and viola - a brand new bathroom with a shower for Carol! A dream she never thought possible - but we were able to come up with a solution and make it happen!

We were able to give her everything she wanted in the bathroom and it looks beautiful – thanks to Carol's great decorating skills!
